Prof Natalie Chan is the Founder and President of the Institute for City Transformation. Prior to that, she was the Director of Ray Bakke Centre for Urban Transformation and Professor of Urban Ministry at Bethel Bible Seminary in Hong Kong (2012-2023). Her teaching and research interests are in Urban Missions, Faith & Work, Transformational Leadership as well as Gospel Movements.
ICT was founded to serve as the Research & Development arm for the Chinese-speaking Church. Prof Chan has led many research projects ranging from “the Dechurched” to “the New Expressions of Church” in Hong Kong. The books she edited include When City Meets Theology (2017) and Transforming Theology in Action (2022). She is also a frequent contributor to journals and books, with her latest contributions including Missional Discipleship @Workplace (2024) and The Kingdom Gospel in Action (2026).
Prof Natalie Chan worked in finance for close to 20 years, mostly at Goldman Sachs, prior to obtaining her Doctor of Ministry at Bakke Graduate University, where she also serves on the Board of Regents. She is also a member of the Standing Committee at the Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism Movement (CCCOWE) and a founding board member as well as a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Marketplace Transformation. She is also the City Catalyst for City to City Hong Kong and founded the Church Planting Network for Hong Kong in 2024.
